Yemi Bolatiwa Water

A jewel in Manchester's crown returns with a new single that's uplifting, thought provoking and ridiculously catchy.

Released: 14 March 2021
Water

Yemi Bolatiwa is a jewel in the crown of Manchester’s music scene. The talented singer-songwriter has worked with notable Manchester musicians such as The Untold Orchestra and funk maestros The Exactors. She has worked extensively with underground DJs and is the lead singer of the genre fusing band Pareidolia.

It came as no surprise to hear of Bolatiwa being long-listed for Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent competition in 2020; she is a vocal powerhouse and will set stages alight again once live music returns.

Her latest single, ‘Water’, is a soulful, folky, drum ‘n’ bass track. Mournful viola contrasts with a bright guitar riff and a skittish beat to create a song which is both reflective and upbeat. Bolatiwa’s soulful and passionate vocals pour smoothly over this atmospheric track. There is some beautiful imagery in the lyrics, which explore the power, purity and symbolism of water. ‘Water’ is uplifting, thought provoking and ridiculously catchy. Treat your ears to a listen.
